DEI 2.0: New Rules, New Tools is an all-inclusive course co-hosted across race, gender, and generation by Lir’s own Ryan Virden and Anika Nailah, to help navigate this challenging new landscape and build community too.

Learn how to transform fear and confusion into action by:

  • Developing strong cross-race alliances

  • Developing and practicing strategies, tools, and skills for engaging in DEI practices and conversations 

  • Identifying, developing, and nurturing a community of colleagues who share your desire to live the values and principles of DEI 

  • Gaining access to resources such as foundational texts, exercises, etc. that support the development of mind frames and practices aligned with outcomes that further DEI

Cohort Meets Every Other-ish Sunday from 1-3pm EST | 12-2pm CST | 10-12pm PST on the following dates:

Meet the Team

  • Cultural liberationist, fiction/non-fiction author, poet, and former professor at Wheaton, Cambridge, and Smith colleges, Anika Nailah is the founder/former director of Books of Hope,a Boston-area program that helps young people write, publish, and sell their own books. Contributing Writer at Medium, Anika has been featured in USA TodayNice Racism, and The Facilitator's Guide for White Affinity Groups. Residing in New England, providing antiracism consulting, she continues to hold healing space to interrupt and abolish racism across the USA

  • Ryan Virden is an educator, author, and cultural worker from Minneapolis. Ryan works with individuals and organizations to develop the mindsets and skills necessary for building relationships across lines of difference. He has worked with schools and organizations across the country as they move towards creating inclusive and just cultures within their setting. As well as serving as the founder and director of Lir Cultural Coaching, he served as the Restorative Justice Coordinator for Minneapolis Public Schools and as a professor at St. Thomas University in the justice and peace department. Ryan has authored several pieces which can be found at Teaching for Tolerance, The Good Men Project, Twin Cities Daily Planet, Teaching While White among several other platforms.
